Known as the ‘Fabulous Five,’ we were quite famous in our college—thanks to the mischief and pranks we masterminded all the time. Now after so many years, all five of us were in town and coincidentally, one of us had her birthday round the corner. Perfect opportunity to spring a surprise, and what a surprise it was! We booked an all-girls trip to Goa. Thanks to MMT’s Travelling Divas – Goa package that designed a perfect four-day celebration for us.

Springing the Surprise

My friend had no clue about the trip. We had roped in her family however, who told her that they had booked a vacation on the next day of her birthday so that she would be packed and prepared. We all landed up at her place for the pre-birthday celebration. At midnight, we cut the cake and silently handed over the tickets to her. She screamed and we all screamed, just like old times. The party continued till late in the night and in the afternoon, we left for the airport, bubbling with excited. We could not believe that life once again had given us a chance to be together.

Special Birthday Dinner

After loads of jokes and laughter on the flight, we landed and headed towards our hotel, where we unpacked and relaxed over cups of tea and snacks. Soon it was time for dinner and we were booked at the Antares Restaurant & Beach Club, an Australian themed restaurant owned by Sarah Todd, Australian Master Chef Finalist 2014. The staff was aware of our arrival and as soon as we entered, the DJ belted out a Happy Birthday song for our friend and made her cut the cake amid cheering guests. She was beaming. Then the DJ called all five of us to the stage for taking-off on this adventurous trip and dedicated some lovely numbers to us. What a welcome! After much dancing, we were taken to our reserved table which had a fantastic view of the sea. We danced, ate and drank the night away. What a day it was!

High on Shopping and Partying

Next day was reserved for sightseeing. Right after a lovely breakfast, we headed for Aguada Fort and then to the beaches. We spent a lot of time in Calangute, where we enjoyed the sea, clicked pictures and had delicious bites at the shacks. How can a trip to Goa be complete without visiting Anjuna Flea Market? So after a full stomach, we headed for a satisfying round of shopping and haggling, picking up unique trinkets and typical Goan souvenirs. We reached the hotel late in the evening, changed into our dancing shoes and headed for Love Passion Karma (LPK), one of the most happening clubs of Goa. The energy was unbelievable and they had some fantastic music, which lifted our spirits even higher.

Winding the Trip with Sports and Promises

The next day was something we looked forwarded to, because the whole day was meant to be spent on the beach, with some thrilling adventure sports to spice up our trip. With the instructors by our side, we tried everything, right from jet skiing to surfing. It was a blessing that all five of us were into adventure sports. Though surfing was not our forte, we attempted it nevertheless. We lived the day as if there was no tomorrow. The shacks alongside had some delicious sea food that we devoured as we talked about our college days and our current lives.

For our last dinner of this trip, we dressed our best. Soon we arrived at Thalassa, a Greek restaurant that promised some mouth-watering cuisine. They had reserved a table for us with some stunning views of the sea, and there we had some exceptional lamb chops on the grill with a well-chosen wine. As the night wore away, we spoke at length and were filled with immense gratitude for having made this trip. Thanks to our families who supported us throughout. Friendship has immense power and we could feel it at that moment. With a vow to do something similar again, we retired for the night and took the flight back the next day. Getting back to our families had its own charm, but these four carefree days that we spent together were magical and will never be forgotten.
