Good Stay
It's a heritage property probably more then a century old. We had booked 2 rooms for 3 nights. It's centrally located in a very nice surrounding. There is a tea room and a reading room for some quiet personal time. The staff members are very cordial, gentle and always helpful with anything you need. Food is quite good, be it Indian, continental or traditional Naga cuisine. All things being good, the property can do with some upgrade specially the toilets. The toilet in the vanity room is a shame. Too tiny and poorly fitted to be called a toilet for a property like this. I requested for a room change but was denied even though all the other rooms were vacant. It was the only down side during our stay.

Me and my friend set out from Bangalore on a unplanned trip through which we could span the whole of North east But we were wrong these places are so beautiful that you d at least need a month to complete all the spots We headed straight to trek the Dzukou Valley when we reached Kohima This is a valley atop the hills which blooms exotic flowers during the monsoon season which is generally from July September so that s the best time to visit The trek to this place is a pretty difficult one It involves 3 stages 8km walking through a trail to a point at which a climb starts The second stage is a steep climb over stones and bamboos for about 1 5 km Once you reach the top there s another 8km that you ll need to walk up to the dormitory The trek can be taken individually but I suggest you to pick up a local guide at the bottom Carry food if you cannot adjust to ordinary food that the caretakers make They are extremely sweet people Also please note there is absolutely no cellular connectivity in the valley so make important calls before you enter We stayed there overnight in the government dormitory and lived the night with the caretakers We returned the next morning and took rest in the resort This resort was called The Heritage and as the name suggests its a 100 year old bungalow which was once the Deputy Commissioner s bungalow The staff at the resort were one of the most hospitable lot we ve ever met After a good night s sleep we had a whole day to sight see and then reach Dimapur to board a train to Guwahati There are a few places like the War Cemetery the second world war tank and the horn bill festival venue that you d like to visit Be careful when striking deals with the taxi drivers We got some youngsters always to drive our taxi and hence we enjoyed more The place is supposedly not safe to venture out in the night to stay safe and reach out to your rooms before it gets dark.
