Our stay at Sand Dunes Retreat exceeded every expectation, thanks to the absolutely phenomenal hospitality and service from every single staff member we encountered. From the moment we arrived until our reluctant departure, we were treated like royalty. The front desk team welcomed us with genuine warmth and went above and beyond to ensure our check-in was seamless. They provided detailed recommendations for local activities and dining, taking the time to understand our preferences and tailoring their suggestions perfectly. The housekeeping staff deserves special recognition - not only were our rooms immaculately maintained, but they anticipated our needs with thoughtful touches like extra towels for our beach visits and perfectly timed turndown service. Their attention to detail was remarkable. The restaurant staff made every meal memorable with their friendly demeanor and expert knowledge of the menu. They accommodated our dietary preferences without hesitation and made excellent wine pairings that elevated our dining experience. What truly sets Sand Dunes Retreat apart is how every staff member - from the concierge to the maintenance team to the activity coordinators - seemed genuinely invested in making our stay exceptional. The property is located at a prime location in Hunder. The room meets all the requirements for a wonderful stay. The food was very good. The chef, we were told, had earlier worked in 5 star hotels and therefore every dish we ordered was excellent. The staff at reception, housekeeping were always willing to help us. There was absolutely no delay is services. The staff in in-house restaurant, Kishan, Pramod and Ajay, all were very good and very helpful. The property has its own kitchen garden and variety of apple trees. Overall, I would rate the property a 5 out of 5.

Sand Dunes Retreat has a nice ambience and courteous staff, especially in the restaurant. The only downside was the lack of hot water in the evenings on both days—we were told the boiler runs only in the morning and evenings rely on solar, which didn’t work well after a long day of travel

Staff and Owner is very helpful.. Neat and Clean rooms with good breakfast and dinner .. Ajay Kishan and his brother all good managing the dining area .. Highly recommend this place

A truly lovely stay near Hunder, just 5 mins from camel safari point. Pros: Excellent location, scenic views (we even saw a rainbow!), organic food from their garden, very friendly and conversational staff (shoutout to Kishan Singh), spacious rooms, stargazing at night. Cons: Slightly secluded – but that’s the norm in this region. Tip: Opt for the breakfast + dinner plan. Worth it.

The location was serene and surrounded by poplar, apple and apricot trees. All the food was grown as organic farming on the site itself. The staff were courteous .The owner was cheerful and helpful beyond our expectations. I will be coming back here without a doubt. I would advise anyone reading this review to definitely give this property a chance. Jai Hind

It is a decent property in Hunder village, some 10 kilometres further down from Diskit, the main town in Nubra valley. Hunder is ground zero for dozens of hotels and homestays. The hotel is located inside a warren of lanes making it a bit challenging to locate the hotel. The property itself is beautifully built, surrounded by a charming vegetable and fruit garden. We stayed in a Family Suite which was very capacious, clean and perfectly suited for a family of 3, 4 or more. The restaurant serves a very decent breakfast. The quality of service leaves something to be desired. I was not too happy about the Owners' lack of attention to drivers' accommodation which looked cramped and unhygienic. Overall, it was a decent experience staying at this property.

A simple but elegant hotel. The rooms were spacious and provided beautiful mountain views. The highlight of the stay was the restaurant food. The service provided by Mr Kishan Singh and his team of Ajay and Pramod went out of the way to make our stay comfortable and memorable.

The experience was great. Stay, Food,Location ,vibes and everything else was spot on. Highly recommended to everyone.

Very nice property with 15 rooms very tastefully done. They have power backup also..except for heavy gadgeta.Excellent food. Owner stays there and is very friendly and cordial.

We had a pleasant stay at Sand Dunes Retreat. The facilities are excellent. Food is good - there are enough options to suit everyone's palate. Staff was courteous and polite especially Ajay, Kishan, and Pramod who went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. Special thanks to the owner, Mr Namgyal for taking time out to interact with us. All in all, would 100% recommend this hotel!

The property had a very nice view of the mountains. Food options were limited but they were delicious. The room was clean, the staff was cordial and polite.
