Emerald Gecko, Havelock Island

We were a group of 4 men and booked this property for a unique nature-based experience—and it definitely delivered! The rooms are built inside a coconut farm, and in some, you’ll even find a coconut tree growing right through the room, which is quite an experience. There’s no AC, and you’ll likely spot a few insects around, but if you’re okay with that, it’s a great stay—especially with direct access to a peaceful private beach. We’d recommend renting a scooter or keeping a cab contact handy since the property is slightly tucked away and local transport isn’t always available. Caretaker Ashok is super friendly and helpful. Just note that during off-season, the restaurant may be closed, but Ashok might still help you out with basics like coffee or an omelette. If you're planning any activities like scuba diving, kayaking, or other water sports, definitely speak to the host, Deepak. He can help you get better prices and ensure you have a smooth and memorable experience.

The location is too good and the behaviour of the staff is also good. They are very much cooperative and give attention of the visitors. The private beach is also good though it requires some cleaning.

We would like to inform you that we have left Emerald Gecko space today itself despite our check out scheduled tomorrow. We have wasted our money for a day. We have to move out urgently because the room we were staying in was infested with lizzards of innumerable shapes and sizes, hundreds of mosquitoes and small insects along with crabs in washroom and rats through out. We didn't pay for such torture and are extremely disappointed having our new years spoiled. Now the main point is despite paying so much We had to live in trouble and unhygienic conditions.

The staff are not very cooperative and the rooms are not that good. Though it's a beach front property but there isn't any good maintenance of things.

A wonderful place right in the middle of the jungle, yet very close to the main road of havelock island. Bungalows built from natural materials, located in the shade of coconut trees near the beach. At high tide, you can immediately leave the bungalow and swim / sunbathe. The amenities are basic, but nothing more is required, this is a bungalow and a complete immersion in the beautiful nature of the island. An excellent breakfast is served in the morning and there are several restaurants and shops nearby. This is a great place for a secluded holiday away from the hustle and bustle.

Do not book for this hotel. No power stand by, ni hygiene is maintained. Toilet is not attached. Ambience is very sabby. Location is ok but it required maintenance a lot.

Stay- i booked their bamboo hut , which had a washroom on the ground floor and bedroom with balcony upstairs. It gave a treehouse kind of feel but was very basic. positives - Bang on vijaynagar beach with gorgeous views,good staff and reasonably good breakfast. Negatives - Unkempt, cleanliness needs improvement,they have a small genset so brace yourselves for power cuts. Food not available post breakfast (though they let you know in advance, they keep some strays in the property and they keep barking throughout the night.

staff is really helpful at every instance and add on breakfast is really good. the private beach at the property is awesome and overall one can enjoy their vacation at emerald gecko 👌

R.O. filteration was not working properly. No arrangement for dinner. Breakfast had limited options. Rest was OKAY.

Lots of mosquitoes in the room

This place used to be a great party hub with a good chef and bartender about 4 years back. Ever since their manager left it has turned into a ruin. There is not even lunch or dinner or any kind of room service available at all. They have coconut trees all around the property which have not been cleaned since long. There is a danger of stray coconuts falling on your head all the time. Due to apathy of the owner, once a beautiful party hub, this place is now a complete disaster. Old rustic bamboo cottages, the place has huge potential. It's a good one if you are low on budget and planning on prolonged stay.

The property is well located but not well maintained. Needs maintenance and there are cottages with no toilets that needs to be mentioned

Location was really nice. Few restaurants nearby. Breakfast was good. Rooms cleanliness was not up to the mark. There were spots on towels and sheets, spider webs were there in the room.
