Design Ashram Art Hostel

A great stay in calicut. Design ashram offers dormitories at an affordable rate. The stay is really good. It's clean and hygienic. The staff is well polite and the place offers you a really good ambience. Keep in mind, it's a mixed dorm. The location is in Gujarathi street, close to calicut beach. If you wanna explore food and enjoy the calicut city, this is the place.

i recently had the pleasure of staying at design ashram, a beautifully restored 100-year-old courtyard house turned design studio. the charm of this place is undeniable, with its peaceful ambiance and the centerpiece—a majestic banyan tree in the middle of the courtyard, creating a truly serene atmosphere. the space offers the perfect balance of tranquility and creativity, making it an ideal stay for backpackers seeking a calm and quiet retreat. i also had the opportunity to meet the owner, mr. british, who was incredibly humble and welcoming, adding a personal touch to my experience. his passion for preserving the heritage of the property while fostering a creative space is truly commendable. overall, i highly recommend design ashram for anyone looking to unwind in a peaceful environment surrounded by nature and history. this place is a hidden gem for travelers who appreciate design, culture, and calmness.

The corner bed i was allotted was dusty and there were cob webs on the wall. At night, there was a cockroach roaming about. While the general condition of the dormitory and bathroom were fine, cleaning was not acceptable. The owner and the staff were very responsive and polite, for other minor complaints.

Although the stay was comfortable, there were hairs all over the place and stuck to the walls. The walls also needed to be cleaned more. The restroom lacked proper cleaning. The stay was mediocre because of these minor details.

The place was really good. It was neat and clean, the people were courteous and took care of my needs as and when necessary. Overall it was a very nice place. I would prefer the same place if i happen to visit calicut once again.

I enjoyed staying in design ashram, especially the orchestra conducted on every wednesday. Good ambiance, clean bathroom, many good restaurants nearby, caretakers is good and providing proper guidance.

Good management, the room is clean, bedsheets are clean near the city centre, lots of eateries around and walking distance to the beach

The place is immaculately maintained, beds and bathrooms are clean, and the place is literally a stones throw away from the beach (you need a strong arm, though. Mr. Mohan is kind, helpful, and plays violin like a dream.
