Passports are required for passengers travelling internationally, and they need to be valid for 6 months hence at least. Some countries issue visas after the passports have been valid for a minimum period, and it is recommended that passengers find out the prerequisites of visa and passport of the country they are visiting. Passengers can apply for an eVisa by logging on to https://www.airasia.com/my/en/passport-and-visas.page. Currently, eVisa can only be provided to passengers travelling to Australia, India, Cambodia, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Vietnam. For passengers travelling to and from the United States, there are certain obligations that should be met prior to booking a flight, as each passenger should be authorized to fly there. AirAsia provides a form to be filled in with particulars of passengers who are travelling to the US, apart from which, passengers have to provide valid passports, accommodation, and proof of entering and leaving the country. Under the Secure Flight and Advance Passenger Information System programme, a passenger must provide his/her full name as on the passport, date of birth, gender, passport number, nationality, country where the passport was issued from, destination address in the States, country of residence for flights, and if applicable, provide one’s Alien Registration Number and Redress Number. Passengers who are citizens of Brunei, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, Taiwan, and South Korea are eligible to travel to the United States for business and tourism for 90 days without a visa, and they are required to apply for authorization under the Visa Waiver Programme (VWP).
