Austrian Air

Founded on 30 Sep 1957 through a merger of Air Austria and Austrian Airways, Austrian Airlines is the national flag carrier of Austria with its headquarter at Vienna. Austrian Airlines' main base is Vienna International Airport with a hub at Innsbruck Airport. Austrian Air became a member of Star Alliance in 2000 acquiring Lauda Air, an airline whose operations included long haul flights merging together in the year 2004 to become a single unit and leaving the brand Lauda Air for only charter flights.

OTHER INFORMATION ABOUT AUSTRIAN AIRLINES

Austrian Airlines will be commencing services to cities of Sochi and Nizhniy Novgorod (both in Russia), the city of Erbil in Iraq, and the city of Baia Mare in Romania in April 2008. All destinations will be served three times a week.

Starting in August 2008, Austrian Airlines will commence service to Riyadh and Jeddah in Saudi Arabia with four and three flights a week.
