SURPRISE ME!
Pssst! You might want to dig out that wine glass and carry it along on your next Italian sojourn. Why you ask? Because Dora Sarchese winery near Ortona has setup a wine fountain for pilgrims, traversing the 310 km-long Cammino di San Tommaso route through the town of Abruzzo.
Open 24 hours of the day, seven days a week, the wine fountain (Fontana Di Vino) is situated in a small room (which looks like a wine barrel) amidst the green covers of the winery.
So head out of Rome to Abruzzo with a bunch of pals or your significant other, line up and fill in a glass of locally made red wine, and let the taste of fermented grapes tickle your tongue.
Oh wait, did we tell you that it’s for free? Yes, you can start packing your bags now!

Rosé di Montemaggio IGT is an organic Tuscan wine with a vivid rose colour, and a fruity bouquet. It is made from 100% Sangiovese grapes and it has a full and refreshing taste. It is the result of the transient encounter with the must of the Sangiovese grapes’ skin. The short hours spent together give to this wine its vivid rose colour and a morbid character with a bit of acidity, freshness and lightness.
