Rann Utsav: Watch the White Rann Come Alive With Colours

"Aapne Kutch Nahi Dekha Toh Kya Dekha"— ever since I watched Gujarat Tourism's advertisement in Big B's baritone voice, Rann of Kutch has been on my bucket list. I had heard a lot about Rann Utsav, but never really got a chance to plan a trip around that time of the year. But that was until I visited MakeMyTrip's portal and came across this tailor-made package promising all the vibrant shades of the festival—it was too good to resist!

An Amazing Blend of Luxury and Fun

My dream trip started with a comfortable cab ride that ferried me to a resort surrounded by desert land. It was an enigmatic camping site with air-conditioned tents and traditional cylindrical huts. The plush feel and comforts provided within my tent could put rooms of many star hotels to shame. 

After a very warm welcome and a sumptuous Gujarati meal, it was time for some adventure and shopping. The venue of Rann Utsav was decked up like a bride oozing joy and happiness, with a splash of colour all around. I already knew that Rann Utsav is a festival celebrating the beauty, culture, and art of Gujarat, but it was a completely different experience as I savoured each and every unhurried moment taking in the local folk music, watching Garbha, exploring the various stalls displaying the exotic handicrafts of the region.

After a fulfilling shopping session, I tried my hand at some fun adventure activities such as ATV Bike and parasailing that were organized right there at venue.

Just when I thought the day couldn’t get any better, it did. After a tea break, I was ferried to the White Rann on a camel cart to enjoy the most beautiful sunset! My night was equally spectacular, with the great Rann glowing on a moonlit night making for a breathtaking view.

Back at the resort, tantalizing hot and spicy local food, bonfires and a cultural performance gave a perfect ending to my day.

A Date with the Flamingoes!

The next morning, I visited the Flamingo City to say hello to the beautiful seasonal birds. The marshland was bustling with flocks of pink flamingos and I couldn’t get enough of them on my camera. I also chose to add Dholavira to my itinerary to see the traces of the great Indus valley civilization. One can also add Kera Shiv temple and Wild Ass Wildlife Sanctuary to their excursion.

Every moment of this trip was so special that I really can’t choose a favourite. All I know is that I carried back some stunning pictures and some really warm memories. All thanks to MakeMyTrip!
