SURPRISE ME!
“The china had never been used. The sheets had never been slept in. Titanic was called the 'Ship of Dreams'...and it was. It really was.” – Rose DeWitt Bukater, Titanic (1997 film).
James Cameron’s film Titanic acquainted most of us with the life-size ship that crashed into an iceberg on the night of April 14, 1912. Kate Winslet’s Rose and Leonardo DiCaprio’s Jack (along with so many other artists play-acting the people who had boarded the ill-fated ship) took us back to their lives, joys and sorrows, and etched deep marks in our memory.
Since then it has been a dream for Titanic fans to relive the experience in some form. And now China is making a million dreams come true by building a replica of the ship, as a stationed, tourist attraction on the banks of Qijiang River.
The official newspaper in China, The People's Daily, reports that the keel of #NewTitanic is being laid in Sichuan, and the replica under construction will be 269 meters (more than 882 feet) by 28 meters (about 92 feet), just like the original. The interiors (like a ballroom, a theatre, a pool and first-class cabins) are being planned over. The construction work started in the last week of November 2016, and is obviously going to take a few years. But the news is good enough for us fans to go yay!
You may jump around with joy now! (Watch this space for more updates)
