Our mothers, they’re the reason we exist and the ones through whom we made our first journey into this world! These wonderful women have held our hands and taught us to walk, stood by us through good times and not so good times and been the guiding force that leads us on. In short, moms are awesome!

Since our mothers have been our earliest travelling companions we thought it would be fitting to celebrate the most cherished travel memories that we’ve shared with these incredible women this Mother’s Day. Here’s celebrating the bond.

My experience of travelling to Disneyland Florida became all the more memorable when I went there with my mom. At twenty seven I felt like a ten year old when mom and I clicked pictures with life size Disney characters, went on giant rides and visited the haunted house where we screamed at the top of our lungs!

Mom pampered me and I felt like a child again. I shall always cherish this trip since it felt like reliving my childhood again, all thanks to her.

Though I’ve had many wonderful travel memories with my mom, our recent trip to Thailand stands out the most! We travelled to Bangkok and Pattaya and visited the Wat Pho,Wat Traimit temples and Coral Island, Nong Nooch Village and Safari World respectively. Though, we particularly enjoyed the Alcazar show, a colorful cabaret performance.

Mom and I had great fun on the beaches of Pattaya where we built sand castles and behaved like eight year olds. I even remember slipping mom a Breezer, and she’s a teetotaler!

I’m currently in London on a project and decided to invite my mom to visit me. This was a very special holiday for her since it was her first international trip ever! She was with me for three weeks and we visited the Big Ben, the Tower Bridge, the London Eye and Oxford Street in London. We also went for a weekend getaway to Cotswolds Region, a tiny English town surrounded by traditional stone houses and beautiful rolling hills.

Later we visited Belfast in Ireland where she thoroughly enjoyed the beaches and the lovely weather! This was a memorable trip for us because I was able to give her the comfort of being at home and also the excitement of an international holiday.

My earliest memory of travelling with mom is to our favourite vacation spot back home, Patnitop (a little hill station 100 kilometres from Jammu). We once went for a midnight, yes a midnight walk around the periphery of the area where our huts were. It was called circular road. It was so circular that our heads were spinning for almost 3-4 hours because we took that one wrong turn and got lost! But mom being the superwoman she is decided to convert this situation into an adventure for us scared-to-bits kids.

Travelling with mom means fun stories, music, random screaming at the top of our lungs, flash mobs and the world mysteriously changing into being one hell of a magical place.

My mom and I live in different cities and because of that I really look forward to spending time with her. I recently planned a trip to Agra with her where we visited the Taj Mahal. We started our train journey early in the morning and all along the way we talked, laughed and clicked pictures. On my insistence mom sang a song for me on the train, which was very special for me, because my mom is a very shy person.

Mom and I had a wonderful time at the Taj Mahal, we hired a guide, took pictures and soaked in the atmosphere. This trip made me realise that no matter how busy we are, it is possible to take out time to spend with our mothers.

I visited Arkansas in the US with my mom last year and this was the first trip we were making together without the rest of my family. This was also the longest journey I have ever made with her and every bit was worth it! It was a lovely experience to go for long walks with mom, chat, share stories and just take in the calming views of the countryside.

Beaver Lake became mom and my favourite spot and we went there often for picnics and barbeques. Nature lovers that we are, we planned a day trip to the Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge. Our visit was made memorable by a jeep safari and our up-close encounters with nature and wildlife. Both of us loved the laidback atmosphere of Arkansas and have left a piece of our hearts there!

mothers day

No matter how old we get, our mothers will always continue to remain the most special women in our lives. So this Mother’s Day why not take mom on a special vacation to tell her how much she means to you.
