People travel for all rhymes and reasons. Some do it for business, some for family time, some for honeymoon but it is rather rare when folks venture out for leisure with their same-sex friends. Not anymore! A recent survey steered by MakeMyTrip reveals: Travelling with the opposite sex is passé. The new travel trend with the young, one discovers is, that the ladies look forward to vacationing with girlfriends; while the menfolk rely on their buddies to go with on holidays. Does one wonder why? Well, I did too. So, I got in touch with my gang of friends and heard from them first-hand what their reasons were. Please note the reasons (or excuses!) range from being understandable to bizarre, so read on:

Why Only Girls

• The Shopping: Unanimously, shopping is the primary reason for girls preferring to travel with girls with no men playing spoilsport. This one aspect of a tour is a big decider for many women.

• The Comfort: Girls tend to feel more at ease with their gal pals. They can be themselves without having to worry about what ‘the other kind’ thinks. Plus, they feel safer with a group of girls than with a mixed group, unless the guys are known to them.

• The Pampering: Girls generally prefer relaxing getaways, whereas men like to go the adventure route. While an entire day spent on a spa session would not appeal to most guys, it is a favourite with women.

• The Planning: A girls-only trip is better planned and well-organised than a trip with the boys (supposedly so)!

• The Girl Talk: A factor that is absent in the presence of a member of the opposite sex, gossiping with a girl gang is not something to miss out on!

Why Only Boys

• No Restrictions: They can do whatever they want, wherever they want and whenever they want without anyone nagging.

• No Pretence or Fake Chivalry: Boys can be their rugged selves, without having to care about being courteous and polite.

• What Goes on Tour, Stays on Tour: No secrets are spilled once the holiday is over. No gossiping about the happenings ever!

• No Shopping: An integral aspect of a trip for a female traveller, this holiday inclusion is one which men seldom prefer on their itinerary.

• A Cheaper Trip: Not just because of the aforementioned point, but a boys-only trip also saves one the worries of having to bother about comparing the amenities of star-rated hotels, even a lodging house would do just well for most men.
