The Big Question: Why is Bigg Boss Shot in Lonavala Every Time?

Making a guess would be in vain, because it’s neither the peace and quiet of Lonavala that inspired the makers of Bigg Boss to choose the location for 5 straight seasons, nor the love for a pleasant place. It’s not actually about Lonavala as a location (although I’m not denying the fact that it’s a beautiful hilly terrain), but the presence of six hotels at a 10-minute drive (and a smooth one!) from the Big Boss house that it’s been chosen as the hot spot for shooting. Most importantly, Lonavala happens to be the only such place.

Imagine Armaan and Andy at loggerheads and Bigg Boss reaching the confession room after the damage has already been done – thanks to the massive traffic jam he got stuck in. Or worse still, the fight between Tanisha and Kushal taking a bad shape just because Bigg Boss could not reach on time to resolve the conflict!

Can you believe it? Mumbai lost the battle to Lonavala, because the former does not have hotels near Film City to accommodate the production folks. As Thomson Sequeira, PR for Colors puts it: “Most of the backend teams have to stay extremely close to the Bigg Boss house for the complete duration of 105 days, so they can help prevent any such fights, instantly.”

Besides these, the task, production and programming heads stay in a bungalow in the hill station.

Interesting Facts:

1. The contestants are brought blindfolded into the house so they do not get to know the exact location and do not try to jump out of the house to escape. It’s for their safety. (P.S.: Kushaal has tried to do that once using some chairs).
2. There is no clock in the house so that participants remain unaware of the time. However, presence of a mosque right outside the set has actually helped in their favour since they guess the time when the azaan is recited.

So the big question is answered: It’s the hotels that have made all the difference. So much for preventing clashes! Kyunki Bigg Boss chahte hain ki aap ladai zaroor karein, par sirf TRPs ko badhane ke liye. After all, it’s rightly coined as the baap of all controversial reality shows on television.
