Be it a multi-day trek or a few hours’ walk, expect to be rewarded with experiences that are truly unique.

Twelve Apostles Walk, Great Ocean Road, Victoria

Following a similar route as the ultra-scenic Great Ocean Road drive, the Twelve Apostles Walk is a great way to see the beautiful coastline and of course, The Twelve Apostles limestone formations located off the shore of the Port Campbell National Park. The approximate 55-kilometre moderate walk spans four days and takes you through varied terrains including rainforests, beaches and rocky cliffs, often resembling a moonscape. The scenery is a great distraction (especially when the walk gets a bit challenging!) as is the native wildlife you’re likely to see on the route like wallabies, fur seals and koalas.

Months: September to May

Bay of Fires Walk, Tasmania

The three-day Bay of Fires Walk offers a window into the stunning magnificence of the eastern coast of Tasmania. At the edge of Mount William National Park, discover hidden coves, untouched white sandy stretches and orange granite boulders abutting turquoise waters. The 23-kilometre easy to moderate walk affords the opportunity to see a dazzling display indigenous flora and fauna along the way.

Months: October to May

Maria Island Walk, Tasmania

A heritage island, the Maria Island Walk is about exotic wildlife, spectacular scenery and fascinating history. Over 34 kilometres and four days, expect to have one-of-a-kind experiences like discovering shell fossils embedded in limestone cliffs dated over 300-million years, visiting a heritage home in Darlington, walking through fragrant blue gum tree forests, strolling along remote white sand beaches and seeing towering dolerite pillars. The walk also promises a lot of wildlife sightings including wombats, wallabies, kangaroos and Tasmanian devils.

Larapinta Trail, Northern Territory

For those who are looking for something more challenging, the 72-kilometre Larapinta Trail walk extends across six days. Taking you through the West MacDonnell Ranges, the walk traces the path of traditional Aboriginal tribespeople and early explorers through the rugged Australian Outback.

Months: May to September

Kings Canyon Rim Walk, Northern Territory

The Kings Canyon Rim Walk is one of the most scenic walks in the Northern Territory. Not very strenuous, this six-kilometre trail begins with an initial climb of a thousand steps to the top of the canyon. From there, you’ll walk through Priscilla’s Crack and Lost City, named after sandstone domes that resemble an ancient city. Other points on the walk are Cotterill’s Lookout and Garden of Eden, which promise the ultimate views of the vast Australian Outback.
