Freedom Ship International is a Florida based company that is about to change the history of ships on earth. The company is building what is known as ‘Freedom Ship’, world’s largest ship, and probably world’s largest manmade structure.

The proposed ship will be a floating luxury city with condominiums, schools, a library, duty-free shopping venues and a hospital. There will be other facilities to sustain a city-life like banks, wholesale shops, hotels, casinos, entertainment facilities, offices, and some manufacturing and assembly facilities, including an airport for small commercial and private aircrafts.

The ship, which is not meant to be a cruise, will call people from across the world to live, work, retire or holiday. The ship will not be parked at one place. It will continuously circumnavigate the earth, only stopping at selected ports for passengers and supplies.

She will be 4500 feet long, 750 feet wide and 350 feet high. There will be 25 stories above its broad main deck. Putting things in perspective, the next biggest ship ever made (Seawise Giant) was about one-third the length of Freedom Ship.

What keeps this proposed ship in trouble waters is not its size, but the money it is going to take. Growing from an estimated USD 1 billion, the construction cost is now USD 10 billion. While this has delayed the construction of Freedom Ship, the makers are optimistic about turning it to reality. Let’s hope we too can afford a holiday on this marvel.
