Flight Of The Gibbons - Zip Lining

The next morning I woke up all excited at 6:40; today my aunt and I were going zip lining! I quickly ate breakfast and off we went to the sign-up area and from there took a van to the zip lines. We had to hike for 15 minutes till the first zip line platform. Initially, it was a bit hard getting used to the zip line but after that we went whizzing past trees. There were 23 zip lines in all, all about 25 meters above the ground. The green trees formed a beautiful carpet below us and the platform was full of butterflies. I tried to catch one and it landed on my finger. The last zip line was 300 meters long! They had to push me as there is a possibility of getting stuck in the middle if you are light weight. After a thrilling experience we went for lunch.

The zip lining experience was breathtaking, with beautiful views along the way

The package my aunt and I had taken included lunch and a trip around the Open Zoo. After the short visit we went to our tents to pack up and head back to Bangkok. I bought a picture of myself zip lining, a clock with a picture of my aunt and me, and a t-shirt with " Flight of the Gibbons " printed on it.

Bird Watching At Thai Talay Restaurant

No trip to Bangkok is complete until you have gone bird watching with my uncle who works with National Geographic. The promise of Crabs for lunch at Thai Talay restaurant and a visual feast of birds in the mangroves had me all excited. We took a boat to the restaurant that was built on stilts in the middle of the mangrove forest. During the boat ride, we saw a variety of birds. I spotted the Collard Kingfisher in its magnificent colors; Chinese Egret with its little crown; Greater Racket-tailed Drongo, black and elegant; Malaysian Plover with its spindly long legs; Pacific Golden Plover and large Cormorants roaming around the mangroves. Uncle also pointed out other birds to me like the Red Wattled Lapwing, the peace loving Collard Dove, Black-naped Tern and the majestic Purple Heron walking around the sandy parts of the mangroves.

The delta where the river met the sea played host to many Cockle farms; no wonder there is so much fresh seafood there. When we reached the restaurant, we hurriedly ran up the stairs to get a table. It was the most unusual restaurant I had ever visited. It was endless and standing on stilts in the middle of mangroves. We sat down and ordered Crabs, Prawns, Mussels, Fish, vegetables and rice. My favorite was the Crab because of its pepper sauce. Mom found the Mussels really spicy, so I tried it and had to have four glasses of water after that to cool down. I also loved the Prawn curry.

Beading My hair

A few hours before my flight back home I spent an hour getting my hair beaded. I loved my new look. It was time to change my Facebook profile picture!

Another great trip comes to an end. Any suggestions on where I should travel to next? Please post your comments below.
