My Way On Highway: Day 16, Aali re Aali, Mumbai Aali

After our tryst with Gujarat, we were all set for another super-long drive, this time to the city of dreams!

The Road To Mumbai

How We Missed You! That’s what we said as NH 8 (with its clean and buttery smooth roads) met us again but this time leading to the city of razzmatazz - Mumbai! The 400 kilometres between Mumbai and us was generously garnished with an ever-changing landscape. The gentle greenery of Gujarat gradually gives way to dark soil and peaks of the Sahyadri Range that welcome you to Mumbai.

Ride Up To The River

During the 7-hour drive, we crossed not one but three really important rivers, namely Mahi, Narmada and Tapi. Of these, I particularly can’t forget the striking sight of the sun slowly emerging behind a cloud and its bright rays glistening on the Narmada’s waters.

Where Mumbai Goes Snacking

Chowpatty, with its buzz and bright lights, happened to me for the first time today. Tariq, my husband, has been a fan and really wanted me to try the Maharashtrian fast food. We stuffed ourselves with paani puri, kala khatta gola, bhel puri, pao bhaji and chowmein. We also discovered an amazing snack shop - Shri Krishna’s.

And That’s Where We Bunked

After a long drive, our focus is always to get on to our hotel and catch a few Zzzzzzs. With the same enthusiasm we reached Oriental Aster in Andheri East and we were won over. A lovely hotel with a charming staff, we are being treated really well here.
