About Shantinatha Temple History
The Chandela rulers built the Shantinatha Temple in the 11th century. The two original Chandella-period shrines were renovated in 1870 CE during the Gajaratna festival. Kanchhedtilal Jain of Nagpur organised the event, causing a renewal of the site accompanied by installations of various new images.
