Howrah railway station (HWH) is amongst the biggest railway stations of the country. Situated on the west bank of River Hooghly, Howrah railway station is one of the two railheads of Kolkata. The railway station receives several express trains from various parts of the country. There are two terminals on the railway station - first is the old terminal which offers services to Eastern and South Eastern Railway zones, second is the new terminal which provides services to only South Eastern Railway zone.


Sealdah railway station (SDAH) is another important railhead of Kolkata. A suburban railhead, it also caters to long distances as well. The railway station has two main sections, the Main Section and other is South Section. Main Section caters to long distance and city suburban trains, where as South Sections offers services to only city suburban trains.
