Yamunotri is situated at an altitude of 3,293 meters above sea level and is the source of the Yamuna River, one of the most important rivers in northern India. The temple dedicated to the goddess Yamuna is the main attraction of the town and is surrounded by natural hot water springs and beautiful mountain ranges.

This is a 16 km long trek that starts from Jankichatti and passes through Yamunotri temple, dense forests, glaciers, lakes and more. It is one of the least crowded and most challenging treks!

Dodital

This is another lake in Yamunotri that is serene and scenic and has a temple, rest house and a basic canteen. However, you have to hike a bit to reach this lake, which is famous for its beauty and vibes.


How to reach Yamunotri?

If you wish to take a flight, the nearest airport is in Dehradun. From here, there are buses and taxis to take you to Yamunotri. However, there is no way but to trek from Janki Chatti and Hanuman Chatti.
