With Ayodhya being the birthplace of Shri Ram, the city is constantly filled with tourists and pilgrims. Despite an abundance of temples, ghats, historical sites, and monuments in the city, the ever-growing population throws an undue burden on these locations, particularly during festival seasons. To reduce the strain on these sacred sites and the inner workings of the city, Ram Katha Park was constructed. The park remains alive with public events, religious recitals, performances and more.

As per the Ramayana, Lord Hanuman uprooted a whole mountain containing the Sanjeevani Booti to cure Lord Lakshman, who got wounded by Meghnath. While carrying the whole Parbat or mountain in his palm, a little part of it fell on the ground, which is now called Mani Parbat in Ayodhya.

Treta ka Thakur happens to be one of Ayodhya's well-known temples and is dedicated to Lord Ram, the Lord of the Treta Yug. The temple was rebuilt in 1784 AD by Maratha queen Ahilyabai Holkar after being constructed 300 years earlier by the Kullu monarch. The temple holds great religious significance because Lord Ram performed the "Ashwadmedha Yagya" ceremony here to commemorate his triumph over Ravana.

Bahu Begum ka Maqbara is the tomb of Begum Unmatuzzohra Bano, also known as Bahu Begum. Nawab Suja-ud-Daula commissioned the mausoleum in honour of his beloved wife. It was constructed in 1816 for the staggering sum of three lakh rupees in an effort to match the splendor of the Taj Mahal. As a result, it is sometimes referred to as the "Taj Mahal of the East." The monument is the tallest in Faizabad and is renowned for its stunning architectural style.

Nageshwar Nath Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and located in Ram ki Paidi. It is believed to be built by Kush, the younger son of Shri Ram. As per an ancient legend, it is said that once while bathing in Sarayu, Kush lost his armlet which was returned by a Nag Kanya. The Nag Kanya fell in love with Kush, and since she was a devotee of Shiva, Kush built this temple in his honour. This temple was in good condition till the reign of King Vikramaditya. It was renovated in 1750 by Naval Rai, the minister of Nawab Safdarjung. The festival of Shivaratri is celebrated with great pomp in this temple. The Shiva Baraat carried out during this period also holds great importance. Lakhs of visitors and devotees visit this temple during the festival of Shivaratri.

Nageshwar Nath Temple

Undoubtedly, one of Ayodhya's top tourist destinations is the Tulsi Smarak Bhavan Museum. It was founded in 1969 and established in memory of Goswami Tulsidas. Hanuman Chalisa and the Hindu epic Ramcharitmanas are written by the great Hindu poet Tulsidas. This place is believed to be the one where Tulsidas composed the great Ramcharitmanas. This museum in Ayodhya contains a sizable collection of Tulsidas' literary works. In addition to this, the museum is renowned for conducting religious lectures, prayer gatherings, and devotional music sessions. Ayodhya Shodh Sansthan, a research institute, is also located within the Tulsi Smarak Bhavan complex.

Gulab Bari, popularly known as the Garden of Roses, is the tomb of the third Nawab of Faizabad, Nawab Shuja-ud-Daula. This tomb was built by the Nawab himself and during his reign, the garden of roses was used for religious gatherings. Its enormous gate's border is expertly carved and features several artistic details, most notably a twin-fish motif.

Ram ki Paidi comprises a series of ghats located on the bank of the river Sarayu and is widely used as a bathing ghat by the devotees of Lord Ram. This ghat was built in the year 1984 for the devotees of Lord Ram. It is believed that the sacred river Sarayu washes away the sins of those taking a dip in it and purifies their soul.

After Ram Janmabhoomi & Hanuman Garhi Fort, Kanak Bhawan is the most famous and must-visit temple in Ayodhya. It is situated in the northeast direction of Ram Janmabhoomi. Devotees believe that this Bhawan was gifted by Queen Kaikeyi to Mata Sita right after she got married to Lord Ram. One of the fascinating facts about this mandir is that the whole renovation was carried out by Muslim workers.

Amava Ram Mandir is located near Ram Janmabhoomi and holds great importance, both spiritual & religious. Ram Rasoi is a significant part of this temple and provides free food to every devotee visiting this place. Feeding people in the form of Prasad is considered a sacred act in Hinduism, and people at Ram Rasoi instill the same value when performing the deed. This temple was built by the Rani of Adamawa in 1919 AD. A childhood idol of Lord Ram has been installed in this temple.

It is believed that this ancient fort was gifted to King Sugreev by Lord Ram when he returned back to Ayodhya after 14 years in exile. This fort is situated adjacent to the Hanuman Gahri Fort, but on higher ground. This fort is now converted into a training center for Hindu religious teachings. Lord Sugreev is worshipped here with high devotion and dedication by his followers.
