Muzaffarnagar

The Augharnath Mandir is one of the oldest temples in the area, and only one of several historical attractions to be found in Meerut. An important historical event occurred at this temple in the year 1857, when a band of rebels plotted their uprising here.

In 1628, construction began on what would become the famous tomb known as Shapir, or Shahpeer Sahab ki Dargah. Noor Jahan, a powerful queen of the Mughal dynasty, commissioned the construction of the monument. Hazrat Shahpeer, a local Muslim and the teacher of Emperor Jahangir and the queen's counsel, was the inspiration for the mausoleum's construction. Shapir is a mausoleum that stands out above the rest in Meerut due to its stunning landscape and pillars. It's worth noting that Shapir's red sandstone construction makes it seem particularly stunning at dawn and dusk.

The large statue of Shiva that stands in the middle of Shiv Chowk is the inspiration for the area's name. Markets and other busy business areas surround chowk, making it the urban hub of the city.

One of the oldest temples in town, the Kali Nadi Devi Mandir is steeped in mythology. Devi Chaudas is the date of a massive annual Bhandara. The shrine also plays home to a large fair the day after Holi.

Sankirtan Bhawan is a well-known temple which is dedicated to Lord Tirupathi Balaji. Because kirtan is sung there every evening at sunset, the shrine is also known by the name of Kirtan Bhawan. Temple officials provide midday meals to the needy every day.

Many people travel to visit the Dargah Har Shrinath because of its reputation as a holy site. The trust's main office is in Delhi, but it also has satellite locations all around the country.

In 1959, the Government Educational Museum was set up to showcase India's history. The museum's rich collection of metal statues, terracotta figures, coins, and stone works has made it famous. There are also cannons, paintings, and stamps on show.

One of the most prominent religious centres in the area is Shukratal. According to legend, Rishi Shuka spent seven days there reciting the Bhagwat Purana before meeting his untimely end at the hands of a snake.

The Kamla Nehru Vatika, after Jawahar Lal Nehru's wife, is a stunning garden. The garden features several fruit-bearing plants. When the fruit is ready, it is sold at auction.

Those who honour Durga in the Durga Dham will never forget their experience. Next to Lord Shiva is a big and stunning statue that is 51 ft in height. In addition, a cave formed by nature may be found there.

This Muzzafarnagar institution, Sanatan Dharam College, is home to the Zoology Museum. In 1970, the college's P.G. department established the museum as a place to display various species of animals.

You can see a massive temple for the Hindu god Hanuman at the Hanuman Dham. There is a gigantic Hanuman statue there that measures 72 ft in height. In the latter half of the 17th century, two renowned devotees named Sudarshan Singh Chakra and Inder Kumar built it.

The massive banyan tree known as Akshay Vat Vatika is 150 feet tall and is said to be 5,100 years old; its roots can be seen all across Muzaffarnagar. According to legend, Sage Sukhdeva spent seven days under this tree teaching the Puranas to King Parikshit, the grandson of Arjun. Therefore, this tree is a metaphor for holiness, honesty, and mercy.

The Bhairon Ka Mandir, where worshipers of Lord Bhairo can pay their respects, can be reached by any of the public transportation options available in the area. The Ekadashi Shivlinga is a major attraction of this temple. A group of Shivlingas, known as an Ekadash Shivlinga, is revered by Hindus for its unique form. In honour of the Hindu festival Shivratri, people go from all over the world to worship here.

The Vahelna Jain Temple is located in the little village of Vahelna, which is located about 4 km from Muzaffarnagar. This temple is an important religious and historical site for Jains. The 31-foot-tall statue of Parshvanatha, the deity worshipped in the temple, is its most notable feature. Within the Vahelna Temple grounds is a facility dedicated to providing medical care using only methods derived from nature.

Ganeshdham, or the Temple of Ganesha, is one of the most visited Hindu pilgrimage sites in India. The enormous figure of Ganesha, measuring a whopping 35 ft in height, is the temple's major draw.
