Kandy

The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic dates back to the 16th century and houses the relic of the tooth of Lord Buddha that is symbolically bathed every Wednesday.

Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage was set up by the Sri Lankan Department of Wildlife Conservation as a protected environment for the largest herd of elephants in captivity in the world.

Consecrated in 1853, the Anglican St. Paul’s Church affords Neo-Gothic architecture with Victorian interiors that include tapestries, teakwood carved panels and a stained glass window.

Located in the Royal Palace complex, the National Museum of Kandy has over 5,000 artefacts including weapons and jewellery from the Kandian and post-British Colonial eras.
