    Thane

    Thane is located on the western side of the Indian state of Maharashtra & covers a total area of over 147 sq. km. Thane came into existence in the 13th century and has a rich heritage. This city has been ruled by the Portuguese, Marathas, and Britishers. The city is popularly known as the "City of Lakes" due to the abundance of lakes within the boundaries of the city. Along with the beautiful lakes, Thane is also surrounded by the Sahyadri Hills, making it an excellent trekking spot. The city is also home to several forts, gardens and resorts. You can also enjoy boat rides in the lakes. Besides being a tourist spot, Thane also offers several mouth-watering dishes like Pav Bhaji, Bhajiyas, and lots of authentic street foods.
