Kedarnath

Located near the head of Mandakini river and believed to have been built by the Pandavas to please Lord Shiva, Kedarnath Temple is one of the Char Dhams (where Hindus can achieve instant moksha). It is one of the holiest shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Located at a height of 4,135 metres, Vasuki Lake is surrounded by the mighty mountains of Himalayas. The lake gets its name from ‘Vasuki’, the snake coiled around the neck of Lord Shiva.

Located en route to Kedarnath, Sonaprayag is a tiny village at the confluence of River Mandakini and River Basuki, and a prominent pilgrimage site.

Also known as Gandhi Sarovar, the Tal is located at a height of 3,900 metres amidst the towering peaks of Kedarnath and Kirti Stambh.

Situated atop a hillock at distance of mere 600 meters from the Kedarnath Temple, this shrine is dedicated to Lord Bhairav, the chief manifestation of Lord Shiva. There are many fluttering flags on the walk up to the temple, showing the path.

A much revered pilgrimage spot for Hindus, the lake is located at a distance of about 16 k.m from the Kedarnath Temple and has an ancient hot spring.
