It is believed that Lord Vishnu arrived here to give away Goddess Meenakshi to Lord Sundareswarar for their marriage.

The Gandhi Memorial Museum depicts the life of Mahatma Gandhi through rare photographs, paintings, sculptures, manuscripts, personal effects and letters including one written to Adolf Hitler.

Vandiyur Mariamman Temple sits within the Mariamman Teppakulam square tank, which spans nearly 16 acres. The temple is dedicated to Mariamman, a revered village deity of Tamil Nadu.
