Agartala

Located in the heart of the city, Ujjayanta Palace was the royal residence and place of the Kingdom of Tripura. Believed to be more than a century old, the palace stands on the banks of two lakes in an inspiration from the Mughal style.

The museum is believed to have been established in the year 1970 to showcase the rich heritage of Tripura and Agartala via objects of art and craft. The museum is housed with the most famous Ujjayanta Palace.

The ancient temple is located in the Old Agartala part of the city. Influences of the Bengal style of temple architecture and Buddhist architecture can be seen at the temple. The temple was built by King Krishna Manikya and is also called Kharchi Temple.

Located close to Ujjayanta Palace, this temple is one of the most revered in Agartala and is dedicated to Goddess Kali.

A significant symbol of Hindu religious faith in Agartala, the Jagannath Bari temple is located in the Ujjayanta Palace grounds and is dedicated to the Gods- Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra. The temple was built by the Maharaja of Tripura in 19th century.

The Buddhist temples in Abhoynagar area of Agartala are a major religious site of the Chakma, Uchai, Barua and Mog communities of the city. The temples are believed to be built around 1940s.

Rabindra Kanan is a beautiful public garden that attracts all people travelling to Agartala. The garden is said to be the private space of Manikya King Birendra Kishore. The park is a popular spot amid locals to indulge in leisurely activities.
