Sangli

Sagareshwar Animals Sanctuary is a popular tourist destination since it was created specifically to protect wildlife. With a total size of 10.87 square kilometres, the sanctuary is one of the top tourist spots in Sangli. The sanctuary is mostly made up of forest cover on grassy slopes.

Gokak Waterfall can be found outside of Sangli's main city beside the Sangli River. This spectacular cascade is frequently likened to Niagara Falls largely for its height, form and velocity. The depth of the waterfalls is 177 metres.

Prior to being developed as a national park, Chandoli National Park served as a sanctuary for several species. The Sahyadri Tiger Reserve is located in the present-day southern part of Chandoli National Park. Koyna Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the upper north part of the forest. Large in size, this national park is home to a wide range of fascinating wildlife. Considering the park's location on the coast, the forest is a hybrid of the wet woods of the Malabar Coast and the moist deciduous forests of the North Western Ghats.

Sangli Fort, now home to the Revenue and Collector's Office, was formerly home to the stunning Rajwada Palace and an equally impressive museum. The Marathi School that operates in this building now was also constructed by the Peshwas.

The Bahubali Hill Temple in Sangli is a popular destination for visitors. In Hindi, the name for the Bahubali mountains is Kumbhojgiri. The building is home to a statue of the saint Bahubali that stands at an impressive 28 feet in height. Four hundred years ago, the sage Bahubali may have pondered here. All around the country, people travel to this spot to pray.

The Sangmeshwar Temple is one of the most sacred sites in Sangli. Lord Shiva is worshipped at this Sangmeshwar temple. A significant number of worshippers congregate here since this deity is highly regarded in Hindu mythology. Given its historical and mythical significance, this has been a holy site for quite some time.

There is a wide variety of plants and animals in the Dandoba Hills Forest Reserve, and it is still relatively untouched. Within the protected areas of the forest, there are several historical landmarks just waiting to be discovered. The Shiva temple is the holiest among the local shrines. Commuters and locals alike frequent this spot on a regular basis to pray.

The Ganapati Temple is a must-see whilst in Sangli. This location is always bustling with worshippers. Thorle Chintamanrao Patwardhan built this temple in 1843. It was dedicated to Ganapati, the city's guardian deity, because of his prominence in Sangli culture. It was the king who had installed the idol in the temple.
