Spearheading Venice’s naval power, the Venetian Arsenal is a complex of shipyards brought together in the town. Established in the year 1104, this was considered as the largest industrial compound after the Industrial Revolution took place. Spread across an area of 110 hectares, the Arsenal is surrounded by high walls and is well-guarded ensuring that it is away from public view.

The Arsenal navy also own s a forest which is located in the hilly area of Veneto. It was the Senate of Venice in older years who ordered to create a building which can be a safe house to store weapons and boats that can be used during war times. This can be a unique point of interest while you tour the city of Venice as it is unlike the museums and churches that you often in the city. Although you cannot enter the arsenal but a stroll around the building is quite popular with tourists these days.
