More than a few centuries old, the holy shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi is one of most revered and most sacred seats of pilgrimage for Hindus.

Legend has it that Arjuna, one of the Pandavas, prayed to Mata Vaishno Devi to seek her blessings for victory against the Kauravas in the battle of Kurukshetra. After their victory at Kurukshetra, the Pandavas built theMata Vaishno Devi temple as a symbol of their devotion and gratitude to the goddess.
