Located amidst the beautiful green environs with swaying palm leaves and relaxing backwaters, this is one of the most popular shrines in Kerala. Unlike most of the temples in Trivandrum, entry to this temple is open to all.

The main deity of the temple, i.e. Chamunda Devi (Goddess Durga’s incarnation), is made out of five metals- copper, iron, gold, silver and lead. Other deities present inside the temple include Rektha Chamundi, Bhala Chamundi, Yakshi Amma, Bhuvanesweri, Ayira valli and Vinayaka.

Outside the temple is a small pond and Nager Kavau which is a kind of nursery housing different species of trees, creepers as well as medicinal plants.
