Established in the year 1986 in an Episcopal Seminary, this museum was aimed at displaying the Pisan art development and the medieval sculptures from the buildings of the square. However, some of the noted sculptures were moved in the 19th century to another museum, the Museo Nazionale di San Matteo. While room 1 highlights the history of the square by putting up some Duomo building models, Room 2 has been known as the home of the cathedral as it has the Door of San Ranieri.

Up next is Room 3 which stores the Moorish-style marble artefacts and 12th century carvings. It also has a wooden crucifix where the image of Christ looks like a modern art masterpiece. At the end of the museum, some of the rooms’ has the prestigious legacy of Carlo Lasinio who has a series of etchings which were later coloured by his son. Inside the museum, you would find an elevated gallery which offers a rare and exclusive perspective on the Leaning Tower and is a must visit here.
