The Gurney house, situated atop the Aryapatta Hill, was the abode of one of the most inspiring authors of the last century, one of the most skilled hunters, one of the very few Jungle heroes – yes, it was the abode of Jim Corbett.

Jim Corbett lived in the Gurney House along with his sister Maggie Corbett. The house was sold off when both Jim Corbett and Maggie Corbett left for Kenya. The house has been converted into a museum and is known as the Jim Corbett Museum. The museum has on display memorabilia from Corbett’s life – neither you nor your children would want to miss a chance to look at Jim Corbett’s house!

At present, Varma’s granddaughter Nilanjana Dalmia owns this property. Although the Gurney House is a privately-owned property, its residents allow visitors to take a tour.
