Designed by Arthur Benison Hubback, the Jamek Mosque is one of the oldest mosques of Malaysia. It was officially opened in 1909 by the Sultan of Selangor. Before the national mosque, Masjid Negara, Masjid Jamek served as Kuala Lumpur’s main mosque. The Masjid has a good architecture with Arabic influence. The architecture of the mosque is a combination of Moorish, Islam and Magul. There are a few tourist attractions at a walking distance such as the China Town and Little India.
