India's largest cricket stadium and one of Kolkata's important landmarks, the Eden Gardens can accommodate 66,349 people. This stadium is listed as the third largest in the world in terms of seating capacity. At present, it serves as the home of Indian Premier League's (IPL) Kolkata Knight Riders and one of the most important venues for test, one day and T20 matches in the country. The stadium is also the home ground of the regional Bengal Cricket Team.

Established in the year 1864, Eden Gardens lies in Kolkata's B. B. D. Bagh area, near State Secretariat and Calcutta High Court. The first recorded test match and One Day International match in Eden Gardens were held in the year 1934 and 1987, respectively. The Hero Cup was the first cricket tournament that was staged under lights at this ground. br />
Eden Gardens houses the Headquarters of the Cricket Association of Bengal and B. C. Roy Club House, which has been named after Dr. B. C. Roy (former Prime Minister of West Bengal). The most runs scored by a cricketer at this stadium is 496 by Sachin Tendulkar, and the maximum number of wickets taken by a player is 14, by Anil Kumble and Kapil Dev. Kapil Dev's ODI hat-trick against Sri Lanka in 1991 and VVS Laxman's score of 281 against Australia in 2000/01 are some of the notable events in the history of Eden Gardens.
