Opened on 19th April 2006, on the 91st birthday of Chintamoni Kar, after which the museum has been named, this is a must visit for art lovers. Each of the three galleries in the museum is packed with an impressive collection of sculptures and paintings created by Chintamoni Kar himself.

Featuring Chintamoni's erstwhile Studio II and the Foundry, the Gallery – I exhibits several metal, stone and terracotta images. In the Gallery – II, you will find a detailed photographic documentation of the sculptor's life and work. In addition to these, the working tools and preparatory muckets used in designing the sculptures are showcased in this gallery. The third gallery contains small sculptures and the early paintings of the artist. Within the premises of the museum, there is a separate gallery named 'Amina Kar Art Galley' where paintings and drawings of Chintamoni's wife are displayed.
