The erstwhile residence of Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose (renowned Bengali physicist, botanist and archaeologist), Acharya Bhavan was constructed in the year 1902 and known to have served as the hub of Bengal Renaissance. This is the building where Acharya and his wife Abala Bose played host to many renowned personalities of that time, including Tagore, G B Shaw, Vivekananda, Romain Rolland, Sister Nivedita, Prasanta Mahalanobis, PC Ray and Meghnad Saha. this 111-year-old building has been recently renovated into a museum.

For anyone interested in knowing about the inspirational life and works of Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose, a visit to this museum is an absolute must. Here, you can come up close and personal with many items and artefacts that belonged to J C Bose. His distinctive instruments, laboratory and priceless collections of art are well-preserved in this museum. Frescoes designed by Nandalal Bose and Abanindranath Tagore are among the museum's main highlights.
