A one-kilometre mountain trail, whose surroundings are graced with boundless natural beauty – the Coakers Walk is one of the star attractions of the hill station of Kodaikanal.

Built in the year 1872 by Lt. Coaker, this path runs on Kodai Road's southern side, along edges of steep slopes. On a clear day, you can get undisturbed and truly spectacular views of Dolphin's Nose in south, the Pambar River valley in south-east, 360° view of Periyakulam and the beautiful Madurai city.

When there is no mist, superb views of the surroundings can be beheld. About halfway from the starting point, there is an observatory that is equipped with telescope. You can start your stroll in Coakers Walk from either end – Villa Retreat or near Greenlands Youth Hostel.
