Pechiparai Reservoir is an artificial water body, situated near the Pechiparai village in Kanyakumari. This reservoir impounds water of the Pechiparai Dam, which is built across the Kodayar River. It was constructed between 1897 and 1906, when Maharaja Moolam Thirunal ruled Travancore. Minchin, a European engineer, was behind the designing and implementation of this masonry dam. The construction of this dam and reservoir was done a mile below the meeting point of Kuttiyar, Kallar and Chittar – the three tributaries of the Kodayar River.

Having a depth of 14.63 metres and catchment area of 207.19 sq km, this reservoir serves the requirement of potable water and irrigation in the region. Surrounding the area of this reservoir is a dense green forest, which is noted for its variety of flora and fauna. Boating facilities are provided at the reservoir, making it an ideal picnic spot. Camp sheds are present near the dam site for added convenience of visitors. Besides, visitors will have a gala time here, as the weather is pleasant through most parts of the year.
