If you love tea, you would have probably heard of or even tried the world famous Ceylon Tea! The Tea Museum at Kandy recounts the saga of Ceylon Tea. The Tea Museum is housed in the former 1925-vintage Hanthana Tea Factory. The Sri Lanka Tea Board and the Planters’ Association of Sri Lanka took up the task of refurbishing this old tea factory into a world class Tea Museum.

The museum has on exhibit vintage tea making machineries and displays on tea pioneers James Taylor and Thomas Lipton. The learned guide at the museum can answer the trickiest of questions when it comes to tea and its history in Sri Lanka. Bonus – you get a free cup of hot Ceylon tea to savor in the top floor tea-room at the museum.

  • Opening Closing Time Tuesday to Sunday: 8:15 am to 4:45 pm

  • Entrance Fee Rs. 400 per person
