Area geography

Jaipur covers an area of 11117.8 square kilometres which is 4.11% of the total area of Rajasthan. Situated in the east of Rajasthan, there are in all 2380 villages in Jaipur. The eastern and northern parts of the city are surrounded by the Aravalli Hills.

Tipping porters and stewards in hotels is very common in Jaipur (10% of the billing amount.) Also, don’t forget to tip your tourist guide but the same may be avoided with taxi/auto drivers.


Jaipur is very tourist friendly, and the locals are very helpful. However, like many other cities in India, petty thefts and scams are a common place here too. Be careful while visiting the busy bazaars of Jaipur and take care of your belongings.
