St. Beatus Caves Overview

Book Interlaken Hotels Book Interlaken Holiday Packages

Legend has it that when St. Beatus chose the cave for hermitage, he discovered a fire-breathing dragon already living there. An epic battle ensued with St. Beatus driving the dragon into Lake Thun.

The place is as fascinating as the Bernese Oberland legend surrounding the name. The cave tour includes visiting stalactites and stalagmites criss-crossed by underground waterfalls.

Going to the old Swiss style building perched on the edge of the waterfall is reason enough to visit the caves.
