A one of its kind museum, the Tirol Panorama presents visitors with a wide-angle view of history including the turbulent history and its impact on the country and its people. The most stunning part of the museum is the massive panorama painting known as the “Riesenrundgemälde”. Measuring over 1000 square metres and curved at 360 degrees the painting depicts Tirolean freedom fighters waging war against the French and the Bavarains.

This complex form of painting was very common in the 19th and 20th centuries and provided people with the illusion of moving images much before the invention of motion pictures. The museum is a must visit when in Innsbruck.
