One of the prominent attractions in Imphal, Sekta Archaeological Living Museum draws attention of archaeologists, historians and tourists from different corners of the state and beyond. The land on which the museum stands at present was previously an excavated site, jointly unearthed by Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and the State Archaeology Department.

The museum showcases rare and unfamiliar antiques detailing the history of the tribes that inhabited the region in 14th and 15th century. The excavated relics on display give you detailed insights about the tradition and rituals the tribe followed for existence. Believed to be a burial site, Sekta, upon excavation, has become a truly amazing place of interest.

An uncommon collection of human skulls, ornaments, pottery, metal equipment and semi-precious stones belonging to the erstwhile period are well-preserved in the museum. These astonishing discoveries have made researchers understand the lifestyle adapted by the tribes and their socio-economic condition. The museum also has artefacts that belong to ex Meiti and Naga rulers, and memorabilia of Indian National Army.
