One of the islands near the Loktak Lake area has been transformed into the Keibul Lam Jao National Park. This park serves as home to the last natural refuge of the Manipuri Brow-Antlered Deer (Cervus eldi eldi) or Sangai.

A subspecies of Eld's deer, Sangai is considered endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Besides, the national park is home to hog deer, wild boar, golden cat, bay bamboo rat, fox, common otter, flying fox, cobra and more. This only floating national park in the world is extremely popular among locals and tourists.
