The Imphal War Cemetery is a poignant site in the Deulahland district of Imphal. It is the resting ground of the brave soldiers who lost their lives in the battle against Japanese forces during World War II. Maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commissions (CWGC), this cemetery commemorates British and Commonwealth soldiers who died in this fierce battle.

Each of the 1600 graves found here narrates a stirring ill-fated war story that shook the whole world. Considered as one of the most barbaric military fights of the Second World War, the Battle of Imphal started in the year 1944.

The battle took place when Japanese attempted to invade India, but were forced to retreat by the powerful British forces and their allies. The horrific war ended with the victory of the allied forces. This historic site is visited by locals, tourists and war veterans to pay homage to the brave.
