Big Buddha, or Tian Tan Buddha, is situated in Po Lin Monastery at Lantau Island. The famous bronze statue is 34 metres high, has great religious significance and attracts pilgrims from all over the world. The construction of this statue went on for 12 years and the effort shows in the features. The eyes, lips, head and right hand have been carved out in a way that it seems that Lord Buddha is bestowing his blessings on his disciples. You must climb the 268 steps which lead to the striking statue to see the real beauty of it. Once you are there, don’t miss the remarkable mountain and sea views from the base of the Tian Tan Buddha statue.
