Saraighat Bridge connects northeast India with the rest of India – and it’s quite beautiful! Opened to traffic in 1962, the Saraighat Bridge is the first rail-cum-road bridge over the leviathan Brahmaputra River. Saraighat is a historically important place too. It was where the legendary battle between the Mughals and the Ahoms (rulers of Assam from the 12th century for about 600 years) took place. The Ahoms defeated the Mughals in this historic battle.
