One of the oldest church bruildings in New Delhi, the Sacred Heart Cathedral is the headquarters of the Catholic Archdiocese in Delhi.

Construction of the Sacred Heart Cathedral began in 1930 and the building was designed by British architect Henry Medd.

Inspired by Italian architecture, the building of the cathedral is complete with white pillars holding up a canopy and circular turrets rising up from the roof. The interior of the cathedral has a high domed ceiling and wide arches. There is also a large and impressive fresco of the Last Supper at the altar.

The Sacred Heart Cathedral is open for religious services and functions all throughout the year.

  • Opening Closing Time Sunday church service begins at 6:30 am and is conducted for an hour each in different languages till 6 pm. Please note that church service timings are subject to change.
