Founded in 1936, the National Zoological Gardens of Sri Lanka is home a wide variety of wild animals and birds. The zoological garden was established with a vision of not only conservation and animal welfare but also breeding and research.

The zoological garden also has an aquarium where along with the colourful fishes; you can also photograph the sea lions. Some of the more exotic species of animals at the zoological garden include red giant kangaroos, hippopotamus, elephants, Sri Lankan tiger, African lion, Bengal tiger, jaguar and much more.
